				CRYSTAL LAKE - NASA Education Corporation is beginning its new year with a huge start. We are happy to report
				that just since the last Stand Down in November, we have all but a couple of our beds occupied and have also been
				able to provide housing for 3 families, as participants of Project Fresh Start. The executive director, John Blanchard's
				creativity has developed into another successful initiative called Vets Total Car Care - they are located at 8304 Pingree Rd
				in Lake in the Hills.

			<title>Local Veteran Participants of Leading Non-Profit Organization take Tent Formation, Assembly and Erection to New Heights</title>

				CRYSTAL LAKE - Over the past three weeks, Fort McCoy Army Base, located between Tomah and Sparta, Wisconsin was the latest
				temporary home and staging area for a devoted and dedicated group of veteran participants, lead by John Blanchard, executive
				director of NASA Education Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit company and current recipient of the 2008 Congressional Medal
				of Distinction.  Liberating Solutions Corporation, partnering with NASA Education Corporation for personnel, was awarded a
				government contract with Fort McCoy to assist in the setup and tear down of 155 general purpose tents that will be used this
				summer as a major element in the preparation for an exercise on the base.

			<title>McHenry County Community Foundation Awards $7,500 Grant to NASA Education</title>
			<description>
				CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - McHenry County Community Foundation (MCCF) has awarded a $7,500 grant to National Association of
				Systems Administrators Education Corporation (NASA Education), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Crystal Lake,
				to support Project Fresh Start, a community reintegration program for U.S. veterans who are displaced, disabled, homeless
				or otherwise in transition.  NASA Education was recognized and the grant money presented  at MCCF's 2008 Grant Gala
				Celebration, held on Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 at  Turnberry Country Club, in Village of Lakewood, Illinois.  NASA Education
				was one of twenty recipients receiving grant money from the foundation, out of forty-six applications that were submitted.

			<title>Senator Althoff encourages participation in Veterans' Legislative Day</title>
			<description>
				State Sen. Pamela Althoff is encouraging all Illinois veterans, active duty personnel and friends and families of service members to
				participate in a special Veterans' Legislative Day set for Thursday, May 22, in Springfield.
				"We want to thank the veterans of Illinois for all that they have done for us," said Sen. Pamela Althoff (R-Crystal Lake).
				"We also want to recognize the sacrifice that families make while military personal are serving our country."
				The legislative day will provide briefings, updates from members of the Senate's Veterans Affairs Committee and opportunities for veterans
				to meet with legislators. It is sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Frank Watson (R-Greenville) and members of the Illinois State Senate
				Republican Caucus.
				The event will begin with check-in from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Hall of Flags in the Howlett Building on the State Capitol Complex in Springfield.
				The day's program will begin at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided for all veterans and their guests who RSVP by May 13.

			<title>Funding and Grants</title>
			<description>CRYSTAL LAKE - Funding for the training institute, including travel and accommodations, is being provided by NCHV through a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Throughout the past year, CHS has conducted a series of technical assistance conference calls on the issue of supportive housing, and has drafted a guidebook on the development of supportive housing. The two-day Supportive Housing training is for organizations interested in or currently developing supportive housing options for homeless veterans. The training will be followed by a site visit to the Academy at the Presidio Supportive Housing Project owned and managed by Swords to Plowshares.</description>
